Revised Magnitudes and Color Indices of the Planets.

چکیده
In connection with the preceding investigation relating to the photovisual magnitudes of the stars, photovisual and photographic magnitudes of the brighter planets have been determined by out-of-focus methods. These observations were made with the view of obtaining better values of color index. The detailed discussion will appear soon in Harvard Annals, 85, No. 4. The number of plates taken for this purpose, including those reported in Harvard Annals, 84, No. 4, is 130. A summary of the results from all these observations is contained in the following table, which gives magnitudes for Venus at superior conjunction, and of the other planets at mean opposition, together with the color index of each.

Fainter and closer: finding planets by symmetry breaking.
Imaging of planets is very difficult, due to the glare from their nearby, much brighter suns. Static and slowly-evolving aberrations are the limiting factors, even after application of adaptive optics. The residual speckle pattern is highly symmetrical due to diffraction from the telescope's aperture. We suggest to break this symmetry and thus to locate planets hidden beneath it. An eccentric p...
متن کاملUsing color photometry to separate transiting exoplanets from false positives
The radial velocity technique is currently used to classify transiting objects. While capable of identifying grazing binary eclipses, this technique cannot reliably identify blends, a chance overlap of a faint background eclipsing binary with an ordinary foreground star. Blends generally have no observable radial velocity shifts, as the foreground star is brighter by several magnitudes and ther...
متن کاملPI, Szeged and Revised Szeged Indices of IPR Fullerenes
In this paper PI, Szeged and revised Szeged indices of an infinite family of IPR fullerenes with exactly 60+12n carbon atoms are computed. A GAP program is also presented that is useful for our calculations.
متن کاملExploring Effects of Stunning with Electroshock and Asphyxia in the Air Methods on Color and Sensory Characteristics of Cultured Silver Carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) During Storage in Ice.
Color and sensory characteristics have a key effect on consumerchr('39')s preferences of fish product. Hence, the aim of present study was to explore the effects of two stunning/slaughtering methods including electroshock and asphyxia in the air on color and sensory characteristics of cultured silver carp. The results showed all color indices changed significantly across both treatments at the ...
متن کاملExponential law as a more compatible model to describe orbits of planetary systems
According to the Titus-Bode law, orbits of planets in the solar system obey a geometric progression. Many investigations have been launched to improve this law. In this paper, we apply square and exponential models to planets of solar system, moons of planets, and some extra solar systems, and compare them with each other.
